“Wake up!” I wake up to Robin (our raft guide) clapping and yelling outside my tent. “Look at the river, get out of your tents!”

I groan, sit up and stick my head out of the tent. The Colorado River is pinkish red and shining in the early morning light. I quickly change into my swimsuit and shirt. I walk out of the tent and breathe in the smell of air after a rain. The early morning light reflects off of the green trees and red river and gives the scene a magical look. The cool air fills my lungs. I stretch my arms and look at the light glinting off of the red water rapids just upstream

“Isn’t it pretty?” Robin asks me.

“Yeah,” I say, “It’s beautiful.”
