One Moment In Time

I was waiting, watching, listening, for minutes disguised as hours. When the moment finally came it seemed slow motion as the white crystals of water surged around me. As I made my way down the rapid, the waves seemed to overpower me and guide me on their paths. I bumped and shook in my little ducky. The perspiration and heat hit me like a truck. I allowed myself a break of the thrill and looked up at the towering canyon walls and smooth black lines within them. Then there was a change, no more convulsing waves, no more lightning current. Just smooth river.
